Dan, you are going to give evangelical pastors heart attacks! But it is refreshing to see that there are people out there who are beginning to question the mainstream Christian narrative that “Jesus came to die” and that was the only reason.

Too many of us do not understand what the Bible is, how the Bible came to be in the form that it is, and who actually wrote its books.

Because we we know the most of the Bible’s books are pseudepigraphical works, we really cannot subscribe to everything the Bible says as being “inerrant” nor “wholly inspired”. That being said, your pull quotes from the Gospels are exceptional.

Finally, it is impossible for Jesus to die for the sins of anyone. If we read Ezekiel 18, God opens and closes the door on this possibility. Jesus’ words from the Gospels are that he came to preach “a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins”. He did not come as a human sacrifice.

I will look forward to reading more of your articles. Blessings!
