Perhaps the worst misconception about the Bible is that it is the "inerrant word of God". This misconception, typically referred to as "Sola Scriptura" (Scripture Alone) was created out of thin air by Luther and other Reformers some 500 years ago. Now, 500 years later, the tradition has evolved into the Bible essentially becoming "God in book form", which the Bible is decidedly not. MEN created the tradition of Bible inerrancy, it was not God.

Then we attempt to backup the tradition with quotes from Paul stating that "all scripture is God-breathed ..." See! The Bible proves itself! No, it doesn't. The Bible didn't existed when Paul wrote these words. And Paul certainly wasn't calling his own letters "scripture". Paul may have been arrogant and boastful, he wasn't THAT boastful!

All in all, a very well-rounded article, Michael. You just didn't go far enough with your misconceptions. Cheers!
