This is not "running away" from frameworks. I use frameworks everyday where they are necessary and helpful. Libraries and frameworks change. That wasn't the point.

The point of the article was increased complexity and bloat both of which are totally unnecessary.

It's interesting the level of religious fervor in the engineering space who cannot see this, obviously on purpose. If we need to compile the UI stack, we are doing something wrong, which is the point of the article. :-)
