Unfortunately, it IS true.
In my experience there are not "a lot" of math brain AND creative brain people in the same body. In fact, they are rare if they exist at all. What some math brain engineer thinks is "creative" is in reality not creative at all. And one look at their web or UI/UX or framework design verifies it.
If you can find such people, that's awesome, they are worth their weight in gold! But I have never worked with any.
The point is, one does not need to be a math brain to be a "good engineer" and it is not just "fundamental" engineering for someone to have a "math brain". That is math brain arrogance speaking. And in engineering there's way too much of this kind of arrogance impeding development.
Math brain people typically suck at other aspects of engineering that require exceptional creative sills. What appears "logical" to a math brain engineer often ISN'T logical at all, and it's not until a creative mind shows up to remedy bad architecture or design that that things begin to take shape and build a better product.
It's when you put the two together that a beautiful thing happens within the team: Rockstar applications get built as each member contributes their exceptional skills to the product.
