Wow. Interesting read! Kincade seems to have been the quintessential “artiste”, twisted and torn by his love for art but also for his need to make a living. Just like every other starving artist. Few make it, most don’t. And the ones who don’t are often critical of the ones who do. Do I sense no small amount of vitriol in your telling of Kincade’s story?
Yes, the hypocrisy of Kincade’s life would seem to indicate he never really found God, or maybe he did and what we saw was the best that was ever to come from the man. Other artists have faired much worse, God notwithstanding. Your writing is good and exemplary of how a one-sided perspective can lead to how someone is perceived. It’s nice to get the other side of the story.
I found the not-so-veiled vitriol against Evangelicals somewhat distracting, however. I mean I get it. I have the same issues you likely do with the hypocrisy and the Church in general.
